Should I post my new pins to my main personal board or should I save it to the boards I have with other peoples content as well?

You should be saving your pins to other relevant boards as well upto a maximum of 10 repinned boards. For example, if you have a board that reflects the content of the pin, you can either directly upload it there or save it after you upload.
