If the content that you get people to click on and read on your blog is not AMAZING, trust me they are not coming back!
You WANT people to love you for the stuff you write about and come again and again to your blog.
If not, then why else would you be here?
To make sure that your content is KICKASS, make sure to ask yourself the following questions before you hit PUBLISH!
1) Does your post have a clear purpose?
A good blog post should either be INFORMATIONAL or INSPIRATIONAL.
Does the blog post fall into one of these categories? Can the reader clearly have at least one big takeaway from your post?
For example, if your post is about “Home Decor For Lazy Girls”
Does it share tips and hacks on how lazy people can quickly, easily, simply set up home decor ideas?
๐Tip: Re-shape your content to have a clear purpose. Without a clear benefit or takeaway, the blog post is just empty words.

2) Is your post easy to read?
When you write online you want to make sure your text is as easy to read as possible.
Unless you run a blog on literature, you do NOT need to use fancy words that need to be googled to be understood.
When writing and updating your post, take the level of an average 5th grader and write in a way that he or she can easily understand the post.
The more complicated your content is to understand, the faster people will run away from your blog.
๐Tip: Evaluate your content for readability. Ask a friend to give you feedback even if you think your writing is flawless. Sometimes it takes a different pair of eyes to see the obvious.
3) Have you used visual media in your post?
Humans are visual creatures.
Reading a 5000 word tutorial with no images, no screenshots, no GIFs and no videos is BORING.
Break-down your text by adding an image every 300 words.
Ideally, every header of your post or main topic should be accompanied with a picture.
Your content should be fun and easy to read but also visually pleasing. A simple way to do it is to add more media to your posts.
๐Tip: Check if you can add a few more images, GIFs or videos to make your content memorable.
4) Does your post have a strong introduction?
Every well-written post should have a well-written introduction. This is kind of like going on a first date.
If the person doesn’t like the first impression, they are going to bounce and probably never come back.
You don’t want that. Not in the case of your blog’s readers where the more the merrier applies. (For dating choices, I leave that up to you) ๐
You want to make sure that you convey, the WHAT-WHY-HOW of your post in the first few paragraphs.
๐Tip: Add the WHAT-WHY-HOW to your opening paragraph.
- What is it that you are talking about?
- Why is it important enough for you to talk about?
- How are you going to showcase the benefit and how will it make the reader’s life better?
5) Is what you are selling clear enough?
This applies to posts that are reviews or mention tools that you want to monetize.
It can be a sponsored post or simply an affiliate link. Does the post bring out the product or service clearly?
How will using this product change the person’s life?
Affiliate marketing is not as easy as just copy pasting a link and MAGIC.
No, you need an audience that TRUSTS you and sees in ACTION how this product or service will transform their life.
๐Tip: Outline the benefits of the product or service that you are talking about clearly and repeat it at the beginning and at the end of the post.
6) Do you have a strong call-to-action?
Adding, “Subscribe for more news” stopped working ten years back.
You need to make sure that you have a strong CTA (call-to-action) at the end of the post. This can be-
- A product or service you want to point to. (aim->monetization)
- A related post you want the reader to go to. (aim->page views)
- An action you want the reader to take from your website such as download a freebie or a checklist. (aim->email list building)
๐Tip: Check if your post has a clear and visible CTA. If not, consider adding it!
7) Is your post easy to share?
If people come to your blog, want to share your post and have to manually click, copy-paste the URL and then send it, you can bet no one is going to do it!
Save your readers the trouble and make each and every post easily shareable!
๐ Tip: Make your content shareable.
You can use the following plugins to add this functionality easily to your website-
8) Does your post convey your personality?
A massive mistake bloggers make when writing new content is writing in a way they “think they should be writing”.
Don’t make this mistake. Let your personality shine and connect to readers in a friendly way.
When they read your blog, they should feel like they know you all along!
๐Tip: Review your blog and see if you are TRULY you when you write.
9) Is your title click-worthy?
Last, but definitely NOT the least, make sure that your post title as well as all the pins that you design have a CLICK-WORTHY title.
This means, instead of writing-
” How to lose weight”
Write instead:
“How to lose weight in 30 days with these 5 tips”.
You see the difference?
When writing click-worthy titles, always remember to show-
1) benefits
2) urgency
3) how easy/simple/step-by-step your solution is
๐Tip: Change or improve your titles to make sure they convey a clear BENEFIT.
If you follow these tips, each time you create any new blog post, you can be assured you have done everything on your end to drive maximum traffic to your blog!
